The 5/5 Rule
If you want to be successful, focus on what’s important.
Many of us get caught up in unimportant things and end up wasting our time and energy.
Both our time and energy is finite. Think about what is important to you and spend your precious resources on those things.
Things like gossip, most social media, and material things are not important. Focus on learning, helping others and bettering yourself. Those are the most important things in life.
Try to get very clear on what is important to you, you will have to figure this out on your own, for most people, the truly important things tend to get neglected unless you really spend time thinking about it.
According to self help author Stephen Covey, you can imagine a four quadrant square with the top axis “Important” and “Not Important” and the side axis labeled “Urgent” and “Not Urgent”. The square that is both Important and Not Urgent is the most neglected area of most people’s lives. Make it a point to spend your time and energy in that quadrant. There you will find things like a fulfilling career, raising kids if that is what you want to do, and being a lifelong learner.
